Eddie Van Halen, and thus the band Van Halen, has decided to take a month off touring to deal with an undisclosed illness. This means the postponement of seventeen US dates.
"Seventeen concert dates on the Van Halen tour are being rescheduled so that Eddie Van Halen, who is currently under doctors' care, can continue medical tests to define a course of treatment," promoter Live Nation said. "The tour will resume on April 19."
Fans are being instructed to hang onto their tickets for those dates because all will be honored when Van Halen reconvenes onstage. So far the band - featuring original frontman David Lee Roth and Eddie's son Wolfgang on bass— have not revealed what the problem is.
Eddie had to postpone tour plans this time last year to enter rehab for alcohol addition.
