Urgent Appeal To Help Guitar Legend Jerry Friedman
An appeal has gone out amongst the axe fraternity to help legendary guitarist Jerry Friedman, who is suffering from cancer.
Jerry played on some of the biggest hits of the 1950s and 60s including Gladys Knight's 'Midnight Train To Georgia', Ben E. King's 'Your Love's A Supernatural Thing' and Frankie Valli's 'Swearin' To God.'
His pioneering electric guitar work on hit albums with artists like Paul Simon, The Temptations, Bonnie Raitt, Herbie Mann, and Gloria Gaynor has been influential to countless guitar players.
Jerry urgently needs specialised medical treatment to conmbat his illness and is undergoing aggressive chemotherapy and radiation. If he can raise enough to visit a specialist clinic in the Dominican Republic his chances of survival will leap 5-10% to 85%.
His friend, renowned session guitarist Elliot Randall says: "Jerry is one of the nicest people you could ever ever meet, and truly one of the most brilliant guitarists in the world. His playing has had a huge impact on my own style.
"He has been struggling financially, and is unable to work due to his illness. He is living very modestly in senior subsidised housing on an extremely tight budget. We are desperately appealing to you to contribute financially to help Jerry fight for his life."
If you would like to help donations should be made payable to Jerry Friedman
and sent to Susan Ulintz, 51 Brookside Ave, Nyack NY 10960, USA.
