Les Paul holds a unique place in the history of music. As a young man he played guitar for Bing Crosby and other jazz greats. Throughout the forties and fifties he had a string of hits as a duo with his wife Mary Ford. At the same time he was designing what would become one of the greatest of all rock icons - the Gibson Les Paul guitar.

As if that wasn't enough he pioneered the art of multitrack recording and overdubbing and was responsible for techniques that would be used in recording studios throughout the world for the next forty years.

Chasing Sound: The Les Paul Story tells the story of this extraordinary man, who at the age of 93 is still performing weekly at the Iridium Jazz Club in New York City. More than anyone else, he's truly worthy to be called the 'Architect of Rock 'n' Roll'.

He recently told The Guardian: "The electric guitar was laughed at! They called me the character with the broomstick with pick-ups on it. It was terrible. Before we came along the guitarist was an apologetic wimp - the weakest, most unimportant guy in the band. As soon as we put a pick-up on him, and a volume control, he became the king."

Chasing Sound is released on DVD on 29th September via Eagle Rock Entertainment.
