Guitar legend Jeff Beck hosts masterclass at BIMM Brighton
Students of BIMM Brighton (www.bimm.co.uk) couldn´t believe their eyes recently when one of guitar´s greatest players, Jeff Beck, walked through the college doors. Taking time off from his UK tour, Jeff sat down with 80 BIMM guitar students for a rare masterclass.
With Jeff's 40 years' plus experience, BIMM Brighton students were in expert hands as Beck ran through his signature techniques and favoured style, even jamming with BIMM graduates Luke Machin, Sandy Buglass and Ben Poole and running through tracks ‘Cause We Ended as Lovers´, ‘Where Were You´ and ‘Blues Deluxe´.
Jeff´s Oxblood Les Paul was nowhere to be seen; instead he opted for an off-the-shelf Strat through a Marshall DSL 50-watt head to lay down some blazin´ licks.
BIMM Director Bruce Dickinson said: “We are honoured to have such an amazing artist come into college and spend time playing with our students. Jeff gave the kind of tutorial that many musicians can only dream of enjoying.”
Every August, BIMM runs weeklong summer schools for younger musicians and those unable to take up full time courses. Visit www.bimm.co.uk for details on the last few remaining places on this year´s courses.
