International Guitar Festival Returns North East This October
Now in its fifth year, the TG-sponsored International Guitar Festival North East returns next month with a dazzling array of 29 artists from six countries in a variety of venues across Newcastle and Gateshead.
Taking place from 14-17 October, IGF North East presents the unique diversity of the guitar with a gala night featuring jazz giant Martin Taylor, folk legend Martin Simpson and young fingerstyle wizard Clive Carroll (17 October).
Also performing will be flamenco greats Gerardo Nuñez and Carmén Cortés, celebrated young bluesman Matt Schofield and fingerstyle wizard Gordon Giltrap.
And Tom Kerstens, among the five best classical players in the world, presents his scintillating new G Plus Ensemble.
IGF also celebrates the centenary of one of the guitar´s great masters of the past: Francisco Tárrega with authentic Spanish virtuoso José Luis de la Puerta.
From blues to serious contemporary music, jazz to classical, flamenco to showcases for the young guitar stars of tomorrow, the festival offers a not-to-be-missed programme.
