Lowden Guitars – the UK-based acoustic guitar company that supplies the one and only Ed Sheeran – has announced a new competition, Take the Stage, which aims to find four emerging artists to perform at the massive Expo Dubai 2020 for the UK’s National Day on 10 February, 2022.
The four winners of the initial stage of the competition will receive return flights to Dubai and transfers whilst there, accommodation for three nights (8, 9 and 10 February 2022), food expenses, an onsite sound engineer, lighting engineer and production technician for their performances, as well as a full festival backstage experience, radio and press opportunities and more.
These four acts will perform in Dubai and compete for the top spot on 10 February, and the winner will receive a bespoke, handmade Lowden Guitar which they will curate and create alongside Lowden’s renowned luthier and founder George Lowden.
Think you’ve got what it takes to go all the way? To enter totally free, simply submit a 30-second video clip of you performing and fill out the short form over at the Take the Stage website. Your video clip will be judged on technical ability, presence and performance, creativity and uniqueness, song choice and suitability, and whether you’d be a suitable person to sign, book or play with.
Expo Dubai 2020 is a six-month-long celebration of humanity’s resilience, creativity, culture and innovation, and is the first World Expo to be held in the Middle East. Since its grand opening on October 1, the event has attracted millions of visitors, so here’s an opportunity to gain some serious exposure. And you’ll be among star company, too; you’ll be joined on the UK’s National Day by a host of musicians, entertainers and innovators from across the commonwealth.
