Apple MacBook Air is the thinnest laptop ever
Steve Jobs and co unveil the ultra-thin, ultra-cool MacBook Air at this year's Macworld Expo
This year's Macworld Expo, held 15 January 2008 in San Francisco, witnessed the arrival of the world's thinnest notebook: The MacBook Air. It measures a mere 0.16" at its thinnest point, and its maximum height of 0.76" is less than the thinnest point on any competing notebooks.
So thin in fact, Steve Jobs presented the new creation by removing it from an envelope.
"We've built the world's thinnest notebook - without sacrificing a full-size keyboard or a full-size 13" display," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "When you first see MacBook Air, it's hard to believe it's a high-performance notebook with a full-size keyboard and display. But it is."
As well as its impressive slim form, another Apple innovation worth noting is the spacious trackpad. Air's trackpad offers multi-touch gesture support for pinch, rotate and swipe, a tool you may be familiar with from an iPhone or an iPod Touch. Personally, we can't wait to see how this functionality gets incorporated into Logic Studio.
