Abbey Road Brilliance Pack features The Beatles’ EQs
Three plug-ins in new bundle
MusicRadar got a sneaky look at Abbey Road Plug-ins' Brilliance Pack at the 2008 Winter NAMM show, but only now has the company got around to releasing it. It features plug-in emulations of three classic EQs, all of which were used on countless recordings - including most of those made by The Beatles - during the 1960s.
The Brilliance Pack emulates the RS127 and RS135 EQs, both of which were custom-built by EMI technicians. Rack and Box versions of the RS127 are supplied, which explains why the bundle features three plug-ins rather than just two.
The virtual versions are based on the original EMI schematics, so in terms of both sound and operation, should be pretty much identical to the hardware boxes. Together, they emulate the complete range of Abbey Road's 1960s presence EQs.
The Brilliance Pack is Mac- and PC-compatible and supports the RTAS, AU, VST and TDM plug-in formats. It costs $199 and can be purchased from the Abbey Road Plug-ins website, where a demo version is also available.
