Strokes man, Santogold and N.E.R.D. record Converse ad
'My Drive Thru' released tomorrow
The Strokes' frontman Julian Casablancas, Santogold, Pharrell Williams and the rest of N.E.R.D. have joined forces to record a track for footwear brand Converse. The song called My Drive Thru will be released tomorrow (10 June) as a free download in conjunction with Converse's 100th birthday celebrations.
Converse shoes, especially the Chuck Taylor All-Star, has always been synonymous with rock 'n' roll - from The Ramones to the aforementioned Strokes. We're not saying this fact excuses corporate sell-out, but it might make it a bit easier to swallow for the cynics among us.
