NAMM 2008: Randall unveil Kirk Hammett amp
The Metallica guitarist's signature stack packs serious punch
The Stateside high-gain amplification gurus at Randall have unveiled Kirk Hammett as the company's latest endorsee.
Confirming rumours that have been circulating for a while now, the Metallica guitarist joins George Lynch in having his very own signature Randall amplifier.
Standing in front of the full 100-watt RM100KH stack with Celestion-loaded RS412KHX and RS412KHX100 speaker cabinets, even at the moderate volume levels permitted at the NAMM show, the amp's meaty bottom end is impressive.
The RM100KH amplifier is built around three preamp channel modules - also available as separate modules for Randall's MTS modular amplifier system - named KH1, KH2 and KH3. These are voiced for clean, rhythm and high-gain lead tones respectively.
Alongside the production RM100KH, there is also a limited edition version featuring solid maple construction and AAAA-grade flamed maple panels.
Sometimes, when you are a millionaire rock star, you want your backline to have a little bling too...
