Michael Jackson, that king of self-deification, has announced the tracklisting for his inventively titled greatest hits collection - his umpteenth, but who's counting? - King Of Pop.
The 17-track album, which has been selected entirely by fans of the singer, is due to be released on August 25. Apparently this is to coincide with Jackson's 50th birthday, but it's also a cheeky way to stay in the public's eye while he spends untold millions recording his next album, due out sometime around the release of Chinese Democracy II.
66,000 fans submitted their favourite songs for the Michael Jackson album - with Billie Jean the most requested track (shocking!) ahead of Smooth Criminal and Bad.
The tracklisting is as follows:
Billie Jean
Bad
Smooth Criminal
Thriller
Black Or White
Beat It
Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'
Don't Stop Til' You Get Enough
The Way You Make Me Feel
Rock With You
You Are Not Alone
Man In The Mirror
Remember The Time
Scream
Frankly, we're stunned that Will You Be There, Jacko's hard-hitting number from Free Willy, didn't make the cut. But then maybe they forgot to count our votes. We're calling for a full investigation into the matter.

“Maybe I’m writing a song and it doesn’t follow the exact rules of songwriting. Or maybe this word doesn’t make sense next to this one, but that’s how I speak”: Beabadoobee says that “missteps” are more important than perfection in songwriting
“It’s been road-tested, dropped on its head, kicked around, x-rayed, strummed, chicken-picked, and arpeggio swept!” Fender and Chris Shiflett team up for signature Cleaver Telecaster Deluxe
Joe is a freelance journalist who has, over the past few decades, interviewed hundreds of guitarists for Guitar World, Guitar Player, MusicRadar and Classic Rock. He is also a former editor of Guitar World, contributing writer for Guitar Aficionado and VP of A&R for Island Records. He’s an enthusiastic guitarist, but he’s nowhere near the likes of the people he interviews. Surprisingly, his skills are more suited to the drums. If you need a drummer for your Beatles tribute band, look him up.
