Don't ever say Marilyn Manson isn't the giving sort. On Friday, 27 March, Manson will offer the new track We're From America as a free download on his website.
The song is from Manson's upcoming album The High Side Of Low, due 26 May, and marks the reunion of Manson with guitarist Twiggy Ramirez (it's the first time they've worked together since 1998's Mechanical Animals).
Speaking to Rolling Stone's Smoking Section, Manson reveals the inspiration for the new album's title: "It's a self-described state of being that I'm in. You're going to be fucking freaked. It's the shit."
First single has an ellipsis, with good reason
Although Marilyn Manson is offering We're From America as a download, he says the first official single from The High Side Of Low will be a track called Arma…geddon.
There's a good reason for the ellipsis, and that's because the cut is actually called Arma-God Damn-Mother Fuckin'-Geddon. (Now, that's a mouthful!)
Discussing the nature of the album, Manson says, "I think my life definitely ended and began. The record sounds very final, but it's almost optimistic - though that feels like a strange word to use. It's a phoenix from the fire and a redemption resurrection."
Sounds like the 'feel good' record of the year to us.

Joe is a freelance journalist who has, over the past few decades, interviewed hundreds of guitarists for Guitar World, Guitar Player, MusicRadar and Classic Rock. He is also a former editor of Guitar World, contributing writer for Guitar Aficionado and VP of A&R for Island Records. He’s an enthusiastic guitarist, but he’s nowhere near the likes of the people he interviews. Surprisingly, his skills are more suited to the drums. If you need a drummer for your Beatles tribute band, look him up.
