Kurt Cobain and Axl Rose hated each other so intensely they couldn't stand to be in the same room together, so says a new book.
In Bumping Into Geniuses: My Life Inside The Rock And Roll Business, music business impresario Danny Goldberg, speaks about the pair's mutual disdain for each other.
Goldberg states that when Rose requested to meet the Nirvana frontman after a show, Cobain gave him the slip. "Rose had the kind of macho rock persona that Kurt detested," writes Goldberg.
The animosity also spread to their partners Courtney Love and Stephanie Seymour. After a war of words between the two backstage at an awards show, Rose allegedly told Cobain: "Shut your bitch up or I'll knock her to the pavement."
Goldberg, who says he witnessed these events first hand, said that Nirvana even turned down the chance to join the lucrative Metallica/Guns N' Roses joint tour due to his loathing for Rose.

He is also a former editor of Guitar World, contributing writer for Guitar Aficionado and VP of A&R for Island Records. He’s an enthusiastic guitarist, but he’s nowhere near the likes of the people he interviews. Surprisingly, his skills are more suited to the drums. If you need a drummer for your Beatles tribute band, look him up.
