KT Tunstall to judge songwriting award
Shure Creative Award acknowledges importance of songwriters
Scottish songstress KT Tunstall will be the celebrity judge of a new competition aimed at aspiring singer-songwriters.
The Shure Creative Award, co-sponsored by the Institute Of Contemporary Music Performance, gives one lucky winner the chance to receive a free place on the Institute´s one-year Higher Diploma course.
Based in London, the course is worth £4950. Two runners up will be offered places on the same course at discounted rates plus prizes from the competition´s sponsors.
K. T. Tunstall had the following to say about the Award: “It's important that the art of songwriting is respected just as much as the ability to perform and play on stage. It's about time there was a competitive platform for young songwriters to win the chance to spend a year honing their craft. It's a great opportunity.”
Applicants should upload a video of themselves performing an original song, on any instrument, to the Shure Creative Award website between 30 May and 13 July 2008.
