This summer, chances are you'll be able to see Green Day. Chances are, you'll also have to fork over some rather big bucks for that privilege. Butin two weeks, the band will play for free for 300 lucky fans in New York City.
On 19 May, just days after the release of their new album, 21st Century Breakdown, Green Day will perform at Webster Hall for grand price of nothing, nada, zip.
Fans will have a chance to win tickets by responding to a series of blogs and bulletins on Myspace.com/thelist.
Even if you can't score freebies, a limited number of tickets will be available to the public for sale on Saturday, 9 May. For additional details, visit Myspace.com/the list. (Hey, that's the same website!)
And if you get shut out cold, you can still see the show shortly afterwards via MySpace Music.

Joe is a freelance journalist who has, over the past few decades, interviewed hundreds of guitarists for Guitar World, Guitar Player, MusicRadar and Classic Rock. He is also a former editor of Guitar World, contributing writer for Guitar Aficionado and VP of A&R for Island Records. He’s an enthusiastic guitarist, but he’s nowhere near the likes of the people he interviews. Surprisingly, his skills are more suited to the drums. If you need a drummer for your Beatles tribute band, look him up.
