Green Day have posted 30 seconds of Know Your Enemy, the first single from their upcoming album 21st Century Breakdown, on their website.
While half a minute might not seem like much, in this case, it's enough to realize that this song delivers the goods.
Over a slamming drumbeat and a bare-knuckled, two-chord guitar intro, Billie Joe Armstrong sings, "Do you know the enemy/ do you know your enemy/ we gotta know the enemy, well, hear!"
The song's video will debut 24 April on MTV, MTV 2 and VH1.
Full album due in May
As MusicRadar previously reported, Green Day 's 21st Century Breakdown will receive a worldwide release on 15 May. It's the band's much-anticipated follow-up to their Grammy-winning, musical-theater-bound American Idiot.

Joe is a freelance journalist who has, over the past few decades, interviewed hundreds of guitarists for Guitar World, Guitar Player, MusicRadar and Classic Rock. He is also a former editor of Guitar World, contributing writer for Guitar Aficionado and VP of A&R for Island Records. He’s an enthusiastic guitarist, but he’s nowhere near the likes of the people he interviews. Surprisingly, his skills are more suited to the drums. If you need a drummer for your Beatles tribute band, look him up.
