Some guys have all the luck. Last year, freak-folk acoustic virtuoso Devendra Banhart scored with the critics with his album, Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon. And now he's scored with actress Natalie Portman, who turns up in his new music video.
Banhart's music is beguiling and bewitching - the guy writes about wanting to be a seahorse and it actually makes sense - and it's catching on in a big way. No doubt his musical charms, er, charmed Portman.
Banhart celebrates his good fortune in this striking Bollywood-esque video to Carmencita, in which Portman, gorgeous as always, plays a princess who must be saved by her beau's rebellious beard.
Have a Bolly-good time!

Joe is a freelance journalist who has, over the past few decades, interviewed hundreds of guitarists for Guitar World, Guitar Player, MusicRadar and Classic Rock. He is also a former editor of Guitar World, contributing writer for Guitar Aficionado and VP of A&R for Island Records. He’s an enthusiastic guitarist, but he’s nowhere near the likes of the people he interviews. Surprisingly, his skills are more suited to the drums. If you need a drummer for your Beatles tribute band, look him up.
