Yamaha HS5: Was $199.99, now $149.99
If anything seeing this deal has us a little annoyed, to be honest. We’ve owned a pair of HS5s for a good few years now, and we paid a lot more for them when we purchased them! The HS5s are perfect for home studio work, combining that flat response you need for mixing with plenty of power across the frequency spectrum. You’ll need a set of studio headphones to delve into the low end, but if you can make your mix sound good on a set of these, it’ll translate everywhere. The HS5s are available in a variety of colors with a tasty $50 discount, but if you want something bigger both the HS7 and HS8s are discounted too.
AKG C214: Was $479, now $299
If the AKG C414 is a little out of your price range, this mid-priced condenser is the perfect antidote for you. It’s a rock-solid performer that can be used on a variety of instruments and a great addition to any home studio engineer’s arsenal. It’s got a really low noise floor and the SPL rating is massive, so you can use it on super loud sound sources. If that doesn’t tempt you, how about a massive $180 off the regular retail price? Add in a shock mount, foam windscreen, and its own metal carry case and you’ve got a hell of a deal.
MXL 990: Was $99.95, now $79.95
Already outstanding value for money, the MXL 990 is one of our top picks as the best cheap microphones for recording, and a must-have for anyone wanting a versatile mic for their home studio. At face value, a $20 discount doesn’t sound like loads, but considering this mic already punches well above its price point you’re getting a great deal here. It gives you a balanced and neutral sound, particularly when used with vocals which makes it well-suited to a variety of vocal styles, further enhancing its versatility as a home studio tool.
Korg minilogue xd: Was $649.99, now $599.99
The Korg minilogue xd is one of our favorite synthesizers, and we even gave it a full five stars out of five in our review. It might only be a $50 discount at Guitar Center, but in our eyes, it’s already worth it at the full price, so the discount is an extra bit of sweetener for your synthesis needs. It mixes a compact yet playable keybed with its huge sonic scope, the minilogue xd is an incredibly powerful tool for your synth playing. The sequencer is hugely powerful and the effects section adds a whole new dimension to your sounds, making this synth a versatile yet unique option for your studio work.
Digital Reference Drum Mic Kit: $219.99, now $99.99
Yep, you are reading that right, the Guitar Center Black Friday sale features seven drum mics for just $99.99! Whether you’re recording drums at home, or you want to mic a kit up for live use, the Digital Reference Drum Mic Kit is the perfect entryway into drum recording for beginners. Offering a massive saving of $120, if you haven’t got thousands to spend on drum mics then this set is a great choice. All the mics come with clips and there’s a carry case to keep things neat, simply superb value for money.
