Musikmesse 08: Alesis releases Surge electronic cymbals
Realistic ecymbals use a brass alloy dampened by a clear layer of vinyl
Alesis first announced its Surge electronic cymbals during this year's NAMM Show as part of the DM5 and USB Pro Kit set-ups. Now Alesis are releasing the cymbals separately or as part of a combination pack. Let's re-cap...
Surge are Alesis' attempt to provide the edrummer with a cymbal that looks and feels like 'the real thing' while keeping the flexibility expected from an electronic cymbal. To achieve this, Alesis use a brass alloy dampened by a clear layer of vinyl.
Available sizes are: 12" Single-Zone hi-hat, 13" Single-Zone crash (with or without choke capability), and a 16" Dual-Zone ride (also with or without choke capability). The 16" ride can be used with most industry-standard drum modules and with Triple-Zone triggering applications.
All the cymbals are compatible with standard mounts and arms so you won't need to splash out on new hardware either. Surge will hit the shops in spring 2008, prices TBA.
