Lots of people are snobby about cheap guitars. For some, it even seems to be part of the fun. But here at MusicRadar, we see a lot of value at the more affordable end of the market. Volume is high, competition is fierce and as a result, build quality and specs are drifting ever higher.

If it's a photogenic but capable guitar you're after, this alluring combo of form factor and retro-but-so-right-now finishes (Daphne Blue, Shell Pink and Surf Green) could be for you. There's a rhythm/lead circuit, two Alnico single coils and a floating vibrato system to seal the deal.

More retro/classic eye-pleasing here, with this '60s-style offering Silver Sparkle finish. You won't get these vintage vibes for less this year,
