The 4th of July sales are here - and there’s plenty on offer for musicians! For Independence Day 2023, we’ve seen most of the bigger music retailers dishing out serious discounts on everything from digital pianos and studio headphones to beginner electric guitars and electronic drum sets.

With everyone feeling the pinch right now, it’s becoming harder to manage our bills whilst still finding the funds to continue fueling our hobbies. The 4th of July music sales could be the best opportunity yet to make your music-making budget stretch that little bit further.

So, if you can’t wait for next week’s Prime Day music deals bonanza, or you’re looking for discounts similar to those usually reserved for the Black Friday music deals later in the year, now could be the time to shop.

For the biggest savings, we’d recommend heading to Musician’s Friend first where you can save up to 40% on a huge range of music-making gear. To stock up on software you’ll want to head to Waves, where you can grab two free plugins when you spend $99.

Yamaha F335 Acoustic Guitar: $189.99, now $159.99
Up until now, we'd describe the F335 as affordable, but today a more fitting term has to be 'dirt cheap'. There's no getting away from it, this acoustic is stonking value. Yamaha makes musical instruments that start at a hundred bucks or so and top out at hundreds of thousands (its premium grand pianos are a real treat) but what it doesn't do is make a bad product. Its attention to detail and quality control measures are legendary.

As part of my role, I also scour the internet for the best deals I can find on gear and get hands-on with the products for reviews. My gear reviews have been published in prominent publications, including Total Guitar and Future Music magazine, as well as Guitar World.com. I've also had the privilege of interviewing everyone from Slash to Yungblud, as well as members of Sum 41, Foo Fighters, The Offspring, Fever 333 and many more.

I have a massive passion for anything that makes a sound, particularly guitars, pianos, and recording equipment. In a previous life, I worked in music retail, giving advice on all aspects of music creation and selling everything from digital pianos to electric guitars, entire PA systems, and ukuleles. I'm also a fully qualified sound engineer who holds a first-class Bachelor's degree in Creative Sound Production from the University of Abertay and I have plenty of experience working in various venues around Scotland.
