When it comes to buying a beginner electric guitar for yourself or a loved one, neck comfort is incredibly important – it's where you bond with the instrument, and in my opinion, nobody does it better than Fender in the entry-level end of the market with its Squier guitars. So when I see the Amazon-exclusive Debut Stratocaster is down to $99 for its Cyber Monday music deals, I come running to share the news.
It's never been discounted before, because for $120 it was still a very good deal on a guitar that I'd have been proud to start playing on. For starters, the choice of 2-Colour Sunburst and Black both have sleek matte finishes that I'd love to see on the more expensive Fender Strat models. But the other details here prove the company is making all the right moves.
Squier’s Debut Stratocaster is the most affordable Stratocaster you can buy and is designed to make the first steps of learning guitar as comfortable as possible. But now its price has dropped below $100 for the first time ever, making it an even better deal. But it won't stay this low for much longer.
A thinner poplar body means a lighter weight for younger players. And vitally, the C-shape neck is a proven winner in the comfort stakes – especially with a satin finish on the back for smooth movement up and down the laurel fretboard.
Three single-coil ceramic pickups with a five-way switch also offers a wealth of sounds to explore while learning your favourite artists, with a tremolo for added expression. All for $99 including delivery!
For value this might be the best deal I've seen all week – and an incredible gift for a lucky recipient, especially with the peace of mind of a two-year warranty. QAnd there's another bonus…
You get a starter subscription to the brilliant Fender Play app to start learning the basics of playing guitar – and classic songs. There's surely no way the price will stay this low for much longer with all this included so I wouldn't advise moving fast on this Strat!
