A US company called Moments In Time Manuscripts, Inc claims to be offering for sale the selfsame Gibson L1 owned by Delta bluesman Robert Johnson.
The company has set up a website showcasing evidence to prove that the guitar is the same one held by Johnson in the famous studio portrait of the guitarist - one of only two photos of Johnson in existence. Examination of the guitar's provenance, specific wear and tear marks and other 'proof' is included on the site, though naturally there are more than a few areas of conjecture.
