Happy Birthday Cornford! Guthrie Govan & Roadhouse 30 in Guildford
Cornford Amplification
held the official launch of its all-new Roadhouse amp range at Guildford's Boiler Room last Monday night. The event was also to celebrate the British amp company's ninth birthday.
The Roadhouse 30 1 x 12 combo won a coveted Guitarist Gold Award in our May 2008 issue, so we were keen to get along and hear it in the hands of the fearsomely talented
Guthrie Govan
.
Former Guitarist Of The Year Guthrie has become something of a YouTube star in recent times, thanks to his frankly staggering technique and musicality, that will be well known to regular readers of Guitarist and sister mag Guitar Techniques. Accompanied by Pete Riley on drums, Seth Govan on bass and Andy Noble on Hammond, the band performed material from the Erotic Cakes album to the delight of the packed audience - not least us!
Anne Marie Helder put in a great warm-up slot with some beautiful singer-songwriter vocally stuff, too - a great night was had by all.
