Girls Got The Blues - UK’s first female-fronted blues-based festival
Girls Got The Blues
is a brand new, one-day music festival to be held in Manchester, May 6 2007. (Yep - that´s this coming Sunday, folks).
It celebrates female-fronted bands with an emphasis, although not exclusively as the organisers are keen to point out, on blues-based music.
This is the first event of its type to be held in the UK, with a lineup including: Holly Golightly and The Brokeoffs, The Neutrinos, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Liz Green, Dani Wilde, Toby, Geekgirl, Bex Marshall, The Smears, Ebony Bones, Congregation, Angie Palmer and a Special guest compere Rosie Lugosi the Vampire Queen.
GGTB will also host a ‘Tea Time Open Mic´ slot from 6pm for an hour or so. Anyone at the event can register on the day and get the chance to play Girls Got The Blues. The organisers are hoping this will become an annual event.
You can find GGTB at Walkabout, 13 Quay St, Manchester, M3 3HN. Call 0161 817 4800. Doors at 12.30pm and it´ll stay open until 1.30am.
