Friday Giveaway: Win The Only Ones back catalogue
Reformed punk rock legends The Only Ones have just had their three studio albums re-issued and re-mastered with extra tracks - and you can win them.
The classic British band released their self-titled album in 1978 and are best known for its classic three-minute of song perfection Another Girl, Another Planet (receiving attention again in 2006 when Vodaphone used it in a television advert).
The band´s second album - 1979´s
Even Serpents Shine
- is widely regarded as their best and they followed it with 1980´s
Baby´s Got A Gun
before an acrimonious split ended the band far too soon in 1981.

Just before that they wrote themselves into the rock n´roll book of controversy with a disastrous 1981 US tour that involved frontman
Peter Perrett
having to flee the country on an attempted murder charge.
But now the band are back, Perrett has overcome his demons while guitarist
Johny Perry
has put a successful career as a rock biographer on hold to join original bassist
Alan Mair
and
Mike Kellie
.
They´ve already been cited as an influence on the likes of The Libertines, while Blink 182 and Belle & Sebastian have covered their songs. Ongoing interest in the band led to the decision to reform in 2007 and successful UK dates followed. Now there are plans to record new material but first there´s three definitive editions of their studio albums to date.
All three have been remastered from the original tapes and include previously un-issued material.
