10 Foot Les Pauls Hit London!
The UK´s leading musical stars and The O2 support Gibson Guitartown London charity campaign, June - September 2007
Gibson Guitar has announced that many of the UK´s greatest and best known musicians have already pledged their support and involvement with Gibson Guitartown London. Gibson Guitartown London is a unique charity-inspired campaign, bringing together music and art to raise money for three specially chosen charities: The Princes Trust, Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy and Teenage Cancer Trust.
Music legends such as Paul Weller, Slash, Ronnie Wood, Rod Stewart, Noel Gallagher, Mark Knopfler, Roxy Music, New Order, Bruce Dickinson, Brian May, Gary Moore, Gorillaz, Dirty Pretty Things, Ocean Colour Scene, Graham Coxon, The Kooks, The Magic Numbers, Ozzy Osbourne, KT Tunstall, Razorlight, Hard-Fi, Corinne Bailey Rae, Depeche Mode, James Morrision, Motorhead, Sir Cliff Richard and James Blunt to name a few are already confirmed.
It all culminates in 30, 10 foot freestanding fibreglass Gibson Les Paul guitars and 30 regular sized Gibson SGs which are currently being designed and hand painted by visual artists ranging from Sir Peter Blake, Gerald Scarfe and Andrew Logan to competition winners. Each guitar will be signed by the associated musician to authenticate and endorse their own individual guitar.
The 30 10-foot Gibson Les Paul guitars will be publicly displayed around More London (by Tower Bridge, SE1) from late June 2007 for 10 weeks. Meanwhile, the regular sized hand-painted Gibson SGs will be on public display at The O2 in Greenwich (formerly the Dome). Following the exhibition, all the guitars will be auctioned off at an event in September with all the proceeds being split equally between the three associated charities.
Says Henry Juszkiewicz, Chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar: “London is one of my favorite European cities with an outstanding musical environment. Gibson GuitarTown London will be a momentous and unique public exhibition, raising money for three fantastic charities with the support of many of Britain´s top musical names. This is our gift to the people of London”.
Entrance to the exhibition is free and for more information, please visit the website.

Gibson and London represent what's great about rock n roll to me. The fact that this Guitar Town is helping raise awareness and money for some great causes makes this a stellar project to be involved in.”
